Houston Wire & Cable Company (HWCC) is one of the largest distributors of specialty wire and cable and related services to the U.S. electrical distribution market. In 2008, HWCC had over 3,100 customers including virtually all of the top 200 electrical distributors in the U.S. We have strong relationships with leading wire and cable manufacturers and provide them with efficient access to the fragmented electrical distribution market. During 2008, HWCC distributed approximately 22,000 stock-keeping units (SKUs) from eleven strategically located distribution centers in ten states. We are focused on providing our electrical distributor customers with a single-source solution for specialty wire and cable and related services by offering a large selection of in-stock items, exceptional customer service and high levels of product expertise.

Products are offered in most categories of specialty wire and cable, including:

  • Continuous and interlocked armor
  • Control and power cable
  • Electronic wire and cable
  • Flexible and portable cords
  • Instrumentation and thermocouple cable
  • Lead and high temperature cable
  • Medium voltage cable
  • Premise and category wire and cable

Private branded products are also offered, including LifeGuard™, a low-smoke, zero-halogen cable. This product is made with compounds that produce no halogen gases and very little smoke while under combustion.

HWCC also provides comprehensive value-added services including: standard same day shipment from an extensive inventory and distribution network; application engineering support through our knowledgeable sales and technical support staff; custom cutting of wire and cable to exact specifications; inventory management programs that provide job-specific asset management and just-in-time delivery; job-site delivery and logistics support; 24/7/365 customer service provided by HWCC employees; and customized internet-based ordering capabilities.

Founded in 1975, HWCC has a long history of reliable customer service, broad product selection and strong product expertise. In 1987, HWCC completed an initial public offering and was subsequently purchased in 1989 by ALLTEL Corporation. In 1997, HWCC was purchased by an investment fund affiliated with Code Hennessy & Simmons LLC. During its history, HWCC has successfully expanded the business from one original location in Houston, Texas to eleven strategic locations nationwide.
